What are the steps needed in order to take a CMA exam?
1. Join IMA: Please go to "Become a Member"
2. Enter the CMA program by paying the CMA entrance fee. Please note that the CMA entrance fee is valid for three years. Thus, you have three years to pass both the part 1 and part 2 exam.3. Decide in which testing window you would like to take your exam and pay the examination fee for the corresponding testing window.
4. You will be provided with an authorization number which allows you to schedule an appointment with Prometric.
Where can I take the exam?
Exams are administered through the worldwide network of Prometric Testing Centers and are available in accordance with local customs. You can take the exams wherever convenient for you. To locate a Testing Center and schedule exam appointments, please visit: www.prometric.com/ICMA.
When do the CMA exams take place?
The CMA exams for parts 1 and 2 will be given during the following three testing window periods: January and February / May and June / September and October.
What is the format of the CMA exams?
Each exam part lasts four hours with 100 multiple-choice questions and two 30-minute essay questions. Three hours will be given to complete the multiple-choice section and one hour to complete the essays. The essays will be presented after the completion of the multiple-choice section. Candidates must answer at least 50% of the multiple-choice questions correctly to be eligible to take the essay section. The exam results (pass/fail status) will be mailed approximately six weeks after the close of the testing window.
What is the recommended preparation time for the exams?

When do I receive the exam results?
Approximately six weeks from the end of the month in which you’ve taken your test, ICMA will e-mail your exam results to you. At the time grades are released, results are also available online in your Account Profile transcript.
How do I satisfy the education and work requirements?
To become a certified CMA, candidates must satisfy one of the following education requirements and submit verification of education to ICMA.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
