IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) recently extended its activities in Europe by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AssoController, the association of controllers in Italy.
IMA was introduced to AssoController through IGC (International Group Controlling), an association of which IMA has been a member since 2014. Following that introduction, IMA held a joint event with AssoController last June, which featured Gary Cokins, IMA executive-in-residence, in Milan.
Under the MoU agreement, IMA and AssoController will offer their respective members mutual membership discounts. The two organizations also will cooperate on thought leadership initiatives. To date, AssoController and IMA have jointly worked on a research study, “Controlling in SMEs.” The signing of the MoU occurred at “Controller’s Day,” a joint event sponsored by AssoController and IMA Europe, on March 15 in the historic heart of Milan. The event, which also served as AssoController’s annual meeting, attracted more than 50 attendees and included discussion of topics such as the competence model and Italian professional standard UNI 11618: the impact on a controller.
Said Nina Michels-Kim, CMA, IMA director of European operations, “This partnership with AssoController is a win-win for both organizations. Existing IMA members in Italy gain a local network, and AssoController members gain access to the global resources of IMA. Furthermore, the cooperation with AssoController will help increase awareness of IMA and the CMA certification within Italy.”
Giorgio Cinciripini, AssoController president, commented, “AssoController is pleased to further internationalize our perspective by partnering with IMA. There are many commonalities between the two organizations, and we are happy to support the potential launch of the IMA Italian chapter in the near future.”
